Big Data challenges in Health
Three controversies in health data science to reflect about:
Why data should only be used for the purpose for which they were collected?
In which extent routine data sources and innovations in analytical methods can alleviate the need to conduct expensive randomised clinical trials?
Should medical and healthcare data be made freely available without restrictions, in order to accelerate research and improve medical knowledge?
The Article “Three Controversies in health data science” was performed in collaboration with Niels Peek, professor at the University of Manchester, United Kingdom, and presents the results of a peer discussion at the first European Data Science Conference held in Luxembourg in November 2016.
